Importance of Being Active

What’s your favorite way to stay active? What makes you feel energized? To me, being active doesn’t only make me feel energized, but it makes me feel like I can do so much more during the day. Being active motivates me to do more with my day.

Cher once said, “Fitness-If it came in a bottle, everybody would have a great body.” I think this is a good quote because it’s true. If it did come in a bottle, everybody would look in shape, and there wouldn’t be anybody who’d be overweight.

I think that it’s important to be active because if you like to be active whether it’s working out or playing sports, you won’t feel as lazy. You will have more energy if you are physically fit, compared to the person who isn’t physically fit at all.

Childhood obesity is on the rise. More and more children are overweight, and it’s getting worse. It has tripled in the past thirty years. The obesity of children ages 6 to 11 has gone up from 6.5% to 19.6%. In 12 to 19 year olds, it has gone up from 5% to 18.1%.

After school sports were and still are a big part of my physical activity. I love playing sports, especially with all my friends. Being involved in after school sports is important to me because without them, I probably wouldn’t be as active as I should be. I still like to play sports in my backyard, but it’s always more fun when I’m competing against another team, with all my friends and teammates by my side.

You don’t always have much time to hang out with the “wrong” crowd and you get motivated to stay in shape and to do the right thing.

Having gym class in school is also a fond memory of mine. You can ask anybody, and I’m sure they’ll agree with me when I say that having gym class was a big part of their workout and physical activity. For some people, it was their only physical activity. I think that without it, my younger years and even now just wouldn’t be the same. It’s always fun to play sports during gym class, and I think that it’s a good thing to have.

I don’t need to run a marathon everyday, but I can do other things to stay in shape. No matter what it is I’m doing, as long as I’m moving, I’m doing something right! Jessica – Madawaska, MaineNatural memory enhancer
