The day of `Arafah is singled out by great and unique blessings and merits. According to a prophetichadith, there is no more virtuous or beloved day in the sight of Allah than the day of `Arafah. Good deeds, dhikr, du`aa’, and recitation of the Qur’an are highly recommended on `Arafah day. It is reported that the Prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) was asked about fasting on the day `Arafah, whereupon he said, “It expiates the sins of the preceding year and the coming year.” (Muslim)
Moreover, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There is no day in which Allah frees a greater number of His people from the Hellfire than the Day of `Arafah.” (Muslim)
On the day of `Arafah, du`aa’ will be responded to by the grace and favor of Allah. Therefore, a Muslim should make a lot of du`aa’ on this blessed day. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The best supplication (du`aa’) is that of the day of `Arafah, and the best thing, that I and other prophets before me said, is: La ilaha illa allahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahu al-mulku wa lahu al-hamdu wa huwa `ala kulli shai’in qadeer (there is no god but Allah alone. He has no partners. To Him belong the sovereignty and all praise. He has power over all things).” (At-Tirmidhi)
Today, Muslim communities, in different parts of the world, face great dangers that could threaten their identity and presence. Some peoples suffer from injustice, occupation, aggression, and dictatorship. Other countries are overwhelmed by famine, drought, and natural disasters.
- Would you remember the suffering peoples in your du`aa’ on the day of `Arafah?
- Would you seize the chance to seek Allah’s forgiveness for yourself and for your parents, relatives, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and all Muslims.
- Do you have a specific du`aa’ for yourself and/or for others?
- Would you ask Allah for the wellbeing of all peoples of the world?
Now, share your du`aa’ on the `Arafah day with your fellow brothers and sisters and we all will say ameen.
